St Leonard's Church

Serving the people of Beoley, Church Hill and Abbey Park

Summer Fete

Every first Saturday in July, come rain or shine, something special happens at St Leonard’s Church, Beoley. The peaceful churchyard bursts into life with the sounds of laughter, live music, and the joyful buzz of community as we welcome everyone to our much-loved Summer Fete.

For many, it's a highlight of the season—a chance to gather, celebrate, and enjoy a proper village day out with something for all ages. Whether you’re a regular at St Leonard’s or just visiting for the day, you’ll find a warm welcome, plenty of fun, and a wonderful sense of togetherness.

Fun for All the Family
The fete features all the traditional favourites you’d expect—tombola, coconut shy,

bottle stall, white elephant, prize every time, and plants for sale—all lovingly

prepared and run by members of our church and local community.

And don’t miss our famous Prize Draw, packed with generous prizes donated by

supportive local businesses. It’s always a popular feature—and you never know,

you might be one of the lucky winners!

For children and families, there's so much to enjoy. Alongside classic games and

stalls, there are also free activities such as a churchyard trail to explore nature and

history, and a craft table with Revd Gail, where little (and not-so-little) hands can get

creative.

A Feast of Entertainment and Refreshments
No summer fete would be complete without something delicious to eat and drink. You'll find a tempting selection of cakes, refreshments, and hot food, all served with a smile—and all very reasonably priced.

Throughout the day, there’s a vibrant programme of live music and entertainment, including performances from our fantastic local school and musicians who help create a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere.

Hospitality, Heritage and Community
While the fete is full of energy and fun, it’s also a time to enjoy the beauty and peace of St Leonard’s ancient church building, which will be open for visitors. Pop inside for a moment of quiet, explore the history, or simply take a breather away from the buzz outside.

We’re proud that our Summer Fete reflects everything we value at St Leonard’s—friendship, hospitality, inclusion, and joy. It’s a wonderful way to meet new people, catch up with old friends, and support the life and work of our church in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Admission is free, and all are welcome—so bring your friends, family, and your neighbours!

We’d love to see you there—although we can't always guarantee the weather, the Summer Fete at St Leonard’s is always bursting with sunshine in spirit.
