Blessings and Renewal of Vows

Celebrating a milestone anniversary?
Come through a tough season together?
Or simply want to say ‘we still do’?

A Blessing or Renewal of Vows is a beautiful way to mark your journey as a couple – whether it’s your first year or your fiftieth. At St Leonard’s, we’d love to help you shape a meaningful and personal service that reflects your love and faith.

What is a Blessing or Renewal of Vows?

  • A Renewal of Vows is a chance to affirm your love and commitment to one another before God, often surrounded by family and friends.

  • A Service of Blessing follows a civil marriage, offering space to give thanks and ask for God’s blessing on your life together.

These are not legal ceremonies – so they can happen any time, anywhere in your journey, and are especially powerful for anniversaries, reconciliations, or after a civil marriage.

What’s the service like?

You’ll work closely with our clergy to create a service that’s deeply personal, yet rooted in Christian tradition. You can include:

  • Music, hymns or readings that are meaningful to you

  • A reflection on your journey

  • Renewal of vows (you can write your own or use traditional words)

  • Prayers and a blessing

  • Involvement from children, grandchildren or friends

Whether it’s in church, outdoors, or part of another celebration, we’ll help you make it joyful, thoughtful and memorable.

What does it cost?

In 2025, the fee for a blessing or renewal of vows at St Leonard's is £297. This covers the vicar, the church, your  and admin.

Extras like the organist, choir or bells are available – we’ll explain these when you book.

We simply want to support you as you give thanks for your love and the life you’ve shared.
