Mothers Union

Mothers Union is a worldwide organisation that wants to actively promote the Christian faith by the transformation of communities. They actively promote strong family relationships and reconciliation.

It has strong firm roots in a voluntary ethos centred on mutual respect and collaboration. All the leadership and programmes are driven by its members within their communities and it is inclusive of all faiths.

  • Its stated objectives are:
  • To encourage parents in their role to develop the faith of their children
  • To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service
  • To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children
  • To help those whose family have met with adversity
  • To promote and support a married life

Membership of the Mothers Union is not exclusive to mothers. It is an open organisation that is made up of married and single people, parents, grandparents and even young adults. There are also male members within the four million people who up the worldwide community. They are all united in serving Christ in their own communities through prayer, finance and much active work at the grassroots level.

Here at St Leonard’s, we have an active monthly programme but we also do much to participate in our church community by helping with Junior Church, Messy Church, and Open The Book. We also host the monthly meetings of Craft and Chat. We also have played a part in the services for Mothering Sunday, and often support fundraising activities such as the Snowdrop Weekend where some of the income from refreshments go to the Mothers Union charitable giving programme.

So if you would like to join in with our activities why not come to one of our meetings. They are open to all. You do not have to an enrolled member to attend. Our local programme for 2019 is listed below. But you may also want to click on the link to the website:
