Honour physicians for their services,
for the Lord created them;
for their gift of healing comes from the Most High,
and they are rewarded by the king.
The skill of physicians makes them distinguished,
and in the presence of the great they are admired.
The Lord created medicines out of the earth,
and the sensible will not despise them.
Was not water made sweet with a tree
in order that its power might be known?
And he gave skill to human beings
that he might be glorified in his marvellous works.
By them the physician heals and takes away pain;
the pharmacist makes a mixture from them.
God’s works will never be finished;
and from him health spreads over all the earth. |
Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 38:1-8 (NRSV Apochrypha)

| Prayer is also a commitment to the will of God. Our prayers are heard and answered in accordance with God’s will and in God’s time. |
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him |
|
|
He heals the broken-hearted
and binds up their wounds. |

| The people on the list are lifted to God at the Healing Eucharist service when prayers are also offered for peace and reconciliation in the wider world. The laying on of hands is available at this service which usually takes place at 5.30 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month. |
| In the church there is a purple book situated on the table on the left hand side as you enter through the south door. In the book names and/or prayer requests may be left, anonymously if desired, as well as updates on the conditions of those on the list and thanks and praise to God for healing received. |
