For many years the worship of St Leonard's Church has found a special place for the ministry of healing at our 5.30 p.m. service on the fourth Sunday of the month.
The Eucharist, itself, is a form of that ministry, and in the course of it, the offering of prayers of intercession and the availability of laying on of hands and (potentially) anointing are further opportunities to find healing and wholeness.
Laying on of hands is administered to anyone who comes forward after the intercessions. It is requested that when anointing with oil is sought, notice be given to the president beforehand so that a conversation may be held about cause and context. This distinction reflects an understanding that anointing represents a special and deep sacramental gift reserved for more intensive use. |
