From Sudbury, we moved on to St Michael's, Sutton on the Hill, (6, 12-0-18 in G). We were welcomed at the church by the local Vicar, who had also arranged for teas and coffees to be available for our non-ringers. |

We ascended a spiral staircase into a small ringing chamber, which also contained the clock mechanism. After releasing the clock hammers, we raised the bells and began ringing. Here, we found that as the sallies (the woolly parts of the bell rope) passed through the ceiling, they muffled the sound of the bells and this produced a rather eerie effect in the ringing chamber. Whenever the bells were set, the rope pulleys continued to rotate, which added a further unusual sound to our experience here. |

| We achieved some good striking here, but the call of the teapot proved greater than the sound of the bells and so our ringing was somewhat curtailed. |
